Belle & Tanner
January 2007
Loki, Belle, and Tanner were very loved by their former owner, but his job was taking him out of town increasingly more often. He was hiring a sitter for the ferrets, but over time he realized that the ferrets deserved much more. In January of 2007 the three came to join the family at Zoo`s Ferret Sanctuary. The group was four years old at that time. Loki was adrenal, insulinomic, and on meds for life. His condition worsened. He crashed three times in four months. Despite all efforts to save him, he left us on October 12th, 2007. We want to credit Margie Kamm of MemoryKatcher Photography for this beautiful picture of Loki being held by our volunteer Matthew. This was one of the last photos taken of Loki (August 2007).
Margie also took some Christmas pictures in August. We entered this one of Loki in the FML 2008 calendar contest. He didn`t make it , but we sure think he was cute.
Belle is in good health, but had to be separated from the others due to her aggression issues. She beat up on every other ferret in the room--including her own group! It has gotten worse over the months. Belle now lives in the main house and not the ferret room. She runs in the playroom for long periods of time. Her energy level is excellent for a 4 year old. Except for the toe-biting, she is good with humans LOL.
Tanner is
fragile but is thriving. He doesn`t stay out long at playtime, but his
appetite is good. He`s a plush, big champagne boy. Very hug-able!
At this point (November 2007), they`re nearly five years old.
Love, Zoo
Tanner
