Chippy

January 8th, 2006 we got a call from Aurora, Il.

A woman had a 1 year old baby and didn`t want the ferret who belonged to her boyfriend and his eight year old son.  The vet recommended they call us so they would know where the ferret was.

The boy and the man weren`t happy to give up the ferret---but they did....

Chippy found himself without the man and the boy he loved so much. He went into shelter shock. We have only seen three cases where the ferrets really became severely debilitated from missing their former humans so much. (Most here were neglected or abused, etc.). Chippy lost nearly a pound in spite of all efforts. He became ill from not eating...and depressed....

One night Kurt and I were talking and Chippy perked up. He loved the sound of Kurt`s voice. Chippy`s man had treated him very well--and he MISSED him! Chippy was brought into the main house. He needed Kurt! He began to eat again---play again---and love again!!! The lost weight returned and so did the cute, happy ferret we had seen a month before when he was surrendered here!

Chippy sleeps in the main house now although he does play in the ferret room.

More later on this sweet chocolate boy!

UPDATE: November 25th, 2007

Chippy has decided he likes to play with other ferrets!

He now resides in the main ferret room in a top level apartment. He is still in good health (for now!) and is doing very well. We got him to hold still long enough for a picture. Even though it`s a bit dark, we`ll post it until we can do better!

More later!
