Felicia

On April 20th, 2004 Felicia was found in the middle of a highway in a neighboring town. Felicia was brought to us by a woman who was unable to care for her.

She has joined the Merry group and is having a great time here. She is very playful and loves the room!!!

She will never be abandoned again.

More later!

UPDATE: September 16th, 2006

Felicia has been adrenal for about a month now. SOS has generously donated lupron to our sanctuary, so Felicia will be getting her shot next week along with 14 other babies in need. May God bless everyone who helped make this possible.

Thanks again, SOS!!!!!

UPDATE: November 6th, 2006

Felicia is responding beautifully to her injection. She feels GREAT!!! Her fur is looking much better. One would never even know she`s sick! Every time I look at her---every time I see har playing, I am so thankful for the caring friends we have in the ferret community. All of the 15 little ones who got shots are doing so well!!! We have just ordered another syringe for the other four adrenals plus the five others who are now showing signs.

Felicia should be all set now for about four more months.

UPDATE: May 8th, 2008

Felicia has cancer of the mammary gland. Her last lupron shot was in February. When she didn`t re-grow her fur, we knew something was up.

Felicia will continue to get the best care possible. Even though she is terminal, she will still get the lupron for relief of the adrenal symptoms. She is on Essiac to strengthen her immune system & fight the cancer, as well as a low dose of pred to slow the growth of the tumor..

She doesn`t know she`s sick. Her energy level is great. She toddles quickly around the room, playing with the others, as if nothing is wrong. She climbs the cages & runs the highway, around the room, jumping down to the bins with all the others. Things are just as always...She loves her treats, & her time out of the cage. Life is good...

She is not in pain, and we will not let her be in pain.

More later.

UPDATE : July 23rd, 2008

We lost our little Felicia tonight, on the eve of my birthday... She went strong & felt great, clear up til the end.

Last night, she didn`t want as much soup as usual (and Felicia LOVED soup!)

Today, she didn`t eat much either. She just wanted to cuddle down in her sleepy sack. I offered her more soup during the day, but she really just wanted to snuggle down in her bag & snooze.

At evening meds, when I pulled down her covers, she was still warm, but gone. She had the most peaceful expression on her face. She just went to sleep, God love her. How great is that for her..... I`m so glad she didn`t suffer. That`s what it`s all about.

As for me, I really miss her. She was a big part of our lives for many years...
