Nala

On March 27th, 2007 Nala came to join the family at Zoo`s Ferret Sanctuary.

We got an email from a young man who had found us on the internet. He had gotten this ferret from a friend a week prior. He was hoping she would become a playmate to his two ferrets---but when he took Nala to the vet for her first checkup, it was discovered that she had some health issues, including adrenal disease. Nala is almost 7 years old. He wanted someone else to take her in as he could not afford her care.

Nala got a lupron depot the night she came. Her blood panel showed some abnormalities but she is a ball of energy and so full of love. (She`s a kisser!) She has now been integrated into the room and gets along well with others.

The young man and his girlfriend want to stay in Nala`s life, so we will be providing them with occasional updates by email. They are welcome anytime they want to come visit her.

Little Nala is having a great time here--and she will be loved for the rest of her life.

More later.

UPDATE: December 22nd, 2007

When Nala was brought to us, she had just had bloodwork done. Some of her values were off, but we decided to give her the best life possible for as long as we possibly could. We have been able to provide comfort and happiness for Nala.

Nala has lost some weight, but is still playful at this time. Her appetite goes up and down a bit, but she`s hanging in there--for now.

Nala plays well with everyone, but when it`s time to settle down, she does not want to share her bed. She yells at anyone trying to climb in with her.

Nala`s mommy has been back for many visits and volunteers from time to time. She has remained in Nala`s life.

More later!
